About the Speaker: After experiencing birth for the first time, Kate Herzel knew that had found her place in the world, and loves to tell the story about Googling "how to become a childbirth educator" from her hospital bed in the hours immediately after giving birth. Kate has been teaching childbirth classes and supporting people in both home and hospital births since 2011. After several years of balancing working in Human Resources with her solo doula practice, she partnered with Stacy Ash in 2015 to form Heartland Doulas. Together with their 11 contracted doulas, they help people have really amazing birth and parenting experiences.
In addition to running a successful doula agency, Kate has married her experiences in Human Resources, her masters in Organizational Behavior Management, and her knowledge gained through building a business to offer efficiency consulting and team training to small business owners. In addition, Kate serves as the Leader for the Peoria chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN) and has served on the board of the Heart of Illinois Doula Association (HOIDA). In her spare time, she enjoys cooking with her children, brewing beer with her husband, and entertaining friends.
